From the hostel
Coquimbo & La Serena
Norte Chico without the tourist filter. The version a local friend would tell you about — the one who's spent three summers here and knows exactly where to drink pisco at sundown.

Tell us the hour, we'll tell you where.
Morning

Slow breakfast at Viverito Café, then a short walk to the beach before the wind picks up.
The short guide
Five routes we recommend.
- 01
Coast
The one-minute beach
Walk out, cross the street, hit the sand. The closest stretch is wide and calm — ideal for mornings. For waves, take a cab to Totoralillo.
- 02
Real Coquimbo
La Recova & the port
Seafood market, decade-old hole-in-the-walls, and unfiltered port life. Order scallops, ceviche, and whatever the owner recommends.
- 03
Full day
Elqui Valley
Pisco, observatories, and skies that look made to order. Leave early, come back late. Pisco Elqui, Cochiguaz, and a stop in Vicuña.
- 04
Waves
Surf & the coastal road
Tomé Bajo to start, Totoralillo to level up, Guanaqueros for a long day. Boards and wetsuits at the hostel, contacts on the road.
- 05
Downtown La Serena
Nightlife
Honest cocktails at Casa Magnolia, in the hostel. After, small mixed bars downtown — unpretentious, local. We'll mark the current ones at check-in.
Norte Chico walks itself. We'll show you how.
